Can students work in groups?  
Yes, students may work in groups.  However, students will have to split the prize if their invention wins.

Where will the Invention Convention be held?
At the TD Convention Center in Greenville, SC.  CLICK HERE to view the conference hall map.

Where do I put my invention once I get there? 
The inventions will be organized on the event floor by grade, school, teacher, last name. There will be staff on the invention floor to help direct you to your table.

When will the Exhibitor Expo be open? 
The Exhibitor Expo will be open to the public on Monday, March 6th, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Please take a moment to visit our wonderful sponsors.

Will there be concessions? 
Yes, there will be concessions.

Do you offer patents for winners?
No.  Each inventor is responsible for securing their own patent for their idea.  We suggest obtaining one from the United States Patent & Trademark Office at www.uspto.gov/.

Are the projects/ideas protected while at the event?
iHeartMedia is not responsible for the welfare of the project at the event.  Over 2,000 people come to this event, so we suggest not leaving expensive/valuable items unattended.  In addition, it is up to the inventor to protect and secure their ideas by obtaining a patent issued by the United States Patent & Trademark office (www.uspto.gov/). 

When can I pick up my invention? 
Inventions should be picked up on Monday, March 6th, before 8 pm.  Any invention not picked up by then will be discarded.

Awards Ceremony: 
The Awards Ceremony will begin at approximately 6:30 pm on Monday, March 6th.Please be sure to join us for the Awards Ceremony. We have a special award and prize for the “Most School Spirit" based on audience applause and participation.

Is there a cost for this event?
No, it is free to the public.

Can anyone participate?
Any student from any geographical area that is in the 4th-8th grade is allowed to participate.

Is there a charge for parking?
No, parking is free

Can I come view the inventions even if I’m not participating?
Absolutely!  This event is open to the public.  The best day to come would be the first day from 10 am to 4 pm.

Can I take my invention home after it is judged?
Yes, you can, but if it is part of a tie and it’s not there for re-judging, then it will be disqualified.  Judging takes place till late at night for multiple rounds of tie-breaking.

Do I have to be present at my invention during the time of judging?
No, it is not mandatory, but you are encouraged to be there in case a judge has a question or if your invention is not clearly explained on your board.

How do I know if I won?
Someone will call your school/teacher the next morning to let them know.

Do I have to come to the awards ceremony?
No, but it would be nice to have you there…especially if you’ve won.
